Aura 2016, was the 7th edition of PIMS’ celebrated cultural, literary and sport extravaganza. This year, the PIMS family set out to conquer the uncharted, as the batch of ‘13-’14 steered their ship into four days of festivity and fun. With the theme of this year being ‘Pirates’, all hands were on deck. The students pulled out all the stops in organising the bonanza. A huge pirate themed outdoor stage was erected, and the entire campus was bedecked in mate-y glory.
The inaugration ceremony was held on 3rd, where Chief Guest Mrs. Jacqueline
Kapoor started the engines to the very many events in store for participants
from over 50 colleges who’d gathered. This year’s treasure trove of events included Shipwreck, Battle of the Bands and Treasure Hunt along with brand new concepts like
Campus Crime Diaries which ended being a fan favourite. Dancers and singers, writers and comedians all pushed to be the best as they forged ahead with full vigour. Not to be left behind were our huge array of sporting events, featuring cricket, hockey, football, athletics and powerlifting to the Pondicherry scene. Sportsmen and women strived to
excel each other in a show of physical dominance. JIPMER took home the prize for overall sports.
Our pro-shows, featuring popular garage rock band SKRAT from Chennai and the man who’s enamoured everyone with his voice, Sid Sriram set our stage on fire, with the energetic crowd jiving to their incredible music. As Sid Sriram ended with an enigmatic ‘Ennodu Nee Irunthaal’, we were left in complete awe, yearning for more. AURA ‘16 also featured a variety of food stalls ranging from Dominos, Banana Leaf, to Flo Cafe who came all the way from Vellore, satisfying our participants’ hunger and providing us with an escape from our everyday meals. AURA came to an end on the 6th of August, with PSG, Coimbatore won overall culturals. The night concluded with the Fashion Show, as the various colleges scorched the ramp, and the VH1 Supersonic hosted DJ night. We’d like to thank Event Ethics for their absolutely excellent support and stage set up. We would also like to thank the various judges for our events. We also thank Hawkeyed Photographersfor capturing all the events so we can cherish these memories. And last but not the least, we extend our immense gratitude to the management, the faculty, the support staff and all the students, for their effort and contributions that enabled AURA ‘16 to be the massive success it was.
